SunSirs: Building Material, Wood Pulp Spot Price Rose Slightly, Expected to Fluctuate in the Short Term

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, this week (1.6-1.10), the overall price of wood pulp spot market showed a small upward trend. On January 8, driven by the higher price of pulp futures, the spot price appeared upward trend. On January 10, the average market price of coniferous wood pulp in Shandong was 4,475 RMB/ ton, 0.56% higher than that at the beginning of the week. On January 10, the average market price of hardwood pulp in Shandong was 3,745 RMB/ ton, which was 0.13% higher than that at the beginning of the week.

According to the observation of market changes, the spot price of wood pulps this week was affected by the increase of pulp futures price, and the price was slightly explored. At present, the fundamentals of softwood pulp have improved, spot prices have been maintaining a narrow range of shocks, fluctuations mostly follow the trend of the market. In recent years, the stock of wood pulp has declined, but it is still at a high level in the past five years. Due to the lack of growth momentum within the demand, the price exploration may be in the replenishment period in the early spring festival, so it is difficult to guarantee the strength and sustainability. The domestic wood pulp spot market still faces the pressure of stock, and the loose supply and demand also suppresses the space of wood pulp price rising.

In terms of futures, on January 10, the opening price and the latest price of pulp futures SP2005 of Shanghai Stock Exchange were 4,672 RMB/ ton and 4,652 RMB/ ton respectively. Yesterday's settlement price was 4,666 RMB/ ton, with 96,828 transactions and 142,612 positions.

According to the wood pulp analysts of SunSirs, since the spot price of wood pulp at the end of the year is basically based on maintaining stability, the high market price may be difficult to sustain, and the market mentality before the Spring festival is mainly cautious. It is estimated that the spot price of wood pulp may still be in shock consolidation before this year.
