SunSirs: In August, the Dichloromethane Market Rose First and Then Fell, with a Slight Upward Trend as a Whole
September 02 2022 09:49:10SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, the dichloromethane market fluctuated slightly higher in August. As of August 31, the average price of dichloromethane bulk water in Shandong was 2,900 RMB/ton, an increase of 2.20% from 2,837 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month. The high point in the month was 3,177 RMB/ton. Since the beginning of the year, dichloromethane has been declining all the way. After falling to the low point of the year in July, manufacturers were more willing to support prices due to the cost support. However, due to the constraints of supply and demand, the increase was limited, and the price of dichloromethane fell slightly in the middle and late August.

Analysis review

In August, there was little change in the start-up of domestic methane chloride plants, and the overall supply side was loose.

In August, the raw material methanol market first fell and then rose, and the spot price fluctuated and consolidated at a range of 150 RMB/ton, which had certain support for dichloromethane. According to the understanding of SunSirs, as of August 31, the price of methanol was 2,540 RMB/ton, down 0.59% from 2,555 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month. During the month, the low point of methanol price was 2,412 RMB/ton, and the high point was 2,568 RMB/ton. In August, the high temperature weather and electricity consumption peaked, and the coal supply was relatively tight. In addition, the methanol plant was overhauled in the early stage, and the methanol supply was tight. Methanol was supported by the cost and supply side, and the price was consolidating in a narrow range at a periodical high level. It can be seen from the "methanol-dichloromethane price trend comparison" chart that the current methanol continues to have support for dichloromethane.

In the high temperature weather in August, the refrigerant R22 has a certain after-sales demand support, and the pharmaceutical, detergent and other industries are stable and weak, and the demand has certain support in the face of dichloromethane.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ methane chloride data analysts believe that the current supply side is under pressure, coupled with no obvious bright spots in demand, it is expected that dichloromethane will continue to fluctuate and consolidate in the later period.
