SunSirs: The Propylene Market Fell Weakly in July
July 28 2022 16:27:20SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring data of SunSirs, the domestic propylene (Shandong) market continued to fluctuate and fell in July, and the price fell further. The average market price at the beginning of the month was 7,680 RMB/ton, and the average price at the end of the month was 7,234 RMB/ton, a monthly decrease of 5.81%.

Analysis review

The price chart of SunSirs shows that as of the end of July, the mainstream price of propylene (Shandong) market was 7,200-7,350 RMB/ton, down 7.51% year-on-year and 6.51% month-on-month. In July, the overall market trend of propylene was mainly down. In mid-July, there was a wave of price support in the market, but the downstream did not buy it. After a slight rebound, the increase was taken back and it fell further. The market supply was sufficient, and the downstream purchase gas was insufficient. At the same time, the cost support was weak, and the contradiction between supply and demand was prominent. Only relying on the cost to support the bottom line, the profitability of the overall propylene industry chain was not good, and the market price was down under pressure.

I The propylene industry chain fell across the board. Cost side: Crude oil fluctuated downward, propane, liquefied gas and other propylene production routes, the center of gravity of raw material costs all fell, and the support for propylene prices weakened. Demand side: Downstream products all fell month-on-month. Among them, the profit of polypropylene powder was seriously inverted in stages, and the profit margin of other downstream products was further tightened. Part of the load was reduced, and the purchase of propylene is purchased when use it. Under the atmosphere of buying up and not buying down, the amount of propylene purchased was greatly affected.

Market outlook

The propylene analyst of SunSirs believes that: in August, the terminal demand may improve, and the propylene market may usher in a wave of rising prices, but the current propylene supply pressure is unabated, the rise may be short-lived, and the long-term bearishness is the main.
