The average price of domestic mainstream market price of neopentyl glycol dropped from 16,833.33 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month to 12,500.00 RMB/ton at the end of the month, down 4,333.33 RMB/ton, or 25.74%.

On June 29, the neopentyl glycol commodity index was 68.27, the same as previous day, down 34.11% from the highest point of 103.61 points in the cycle (2021-09-22), and up 6.24% from the lowest point of 64.26 points on January 03, 2022. (Note: The cycle refers to 2021-09-01 to the present).

Analysis review

This month, the quotations of mainstream neopentyl glycol manufacturers fell slightly: Chongqing Kaiyin Jihua's neopentyl glycol distribution price at the end of the month was 12,500 RMB/ton, compared with the beginning of the month, the quotation dropped by 3,500 RMB/ton; Jinan Aochen Wanhua's neopentyl glycol distribution price at the end of the month was 14,000 RMB/ton, compared with the beginning of the month, the quotation dropped by 2,300 RMB/ton; Zibo Deshenfeng’s distribution price of neopentyl glycol at the end of the month was 11,100 RMB/ton, compared with the beginning of the month, the quotation fell by 6,100 RMB/ton.

From the perspective of the upstream raw material market of neopentyl glycol, the price of isobutyraldehyde in the domestic market dropped sharply this month. The price of isobutyraldehyde fell from 16,400.00 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month to 8,066.67 RMB/ton at the end of the month, a decrease of 50.81%. The market price of upstream raw materials fell sharply. Affected by the supply and demand side, it had a negative impact on the price of neopentyl glycol.

Market outlook

In early and mid-July, the overall trend of neopentyl glycol market may fluctuate up slightly. At the end of the month, the upstream isobutyraldehyde market has an upward trend, and the cost support has turned for the better. The downstream coatings market is in general, and the downstream purchasing enthusiasm is weak.
