The latest price of ethylene glycol on May 19 was 5,008.33 RMB/ton, which was unchanged from the previous trading day. It was up 0.7% year-on-year.

Analysis review

Oil prices recovered from early losses on Thursday as expectations of tighter global supplies and improved fuel demand from Shanghai's planned easing of restrictions overshadowed concerns about slowing economic growth. On the 19th, the MEG outer market was weak, and the recent negotiated price of the cargo was around 610 US dollars/ton. The ethylene glycol operating rate continued to decline slightly, the downstream polyester operating rate was average, and the demand side recovered slowly. The factory still purchased just on demand mainly, and the support for the ethylene glycol market was not obvious.
