In February, the domestic SBR market rose first and then fell. According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, as of February 28, the price of SBR 1502 was 12,400 RMB/ton, a slight decrease of 0.93% from the price of 12,516 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month; the high point in the month was 12,766 RMB/ton.

Analysis review

In February, the domestic supply of SBR was relatively loose, and the demand was relatively weak. The ex-factory price of SBR manufacturers fell, and the offers of merchants fell. According to the monitoring of SunSirs, as of February 28, the ex-factory price of SBR 1502 of Jihua/Fushun Branch of PetroChina Northeast Sales Company was quoted at 12,200 RMB/ton.

According to the understanding of SunSirs, in late February, the SBR plant of Yangzi Petrochemical was temporarily shut down, and the domestic SBR enterprises were basically operating normally, and the supply side was slightly reduced but overall loose.

In February, the raw material butadiene rose sharply, styrene rose slightly, and the cost sides had support for the market of SBR. According to the monitoring of SunSirs, as of February 28, the price of butadiene was 8,372 RMB/ton, an increase of 30.09% from the price of 6,436 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month; as of February 28, the price of styrene was 8,980 RMB/ton, up 0.79% from 8,910 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

The natural rubber market in February fluctuated and consolidated. As of February 28, the price was 13,114 RMB/ton, down 1.10% from the price of 13,260 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month; the high point in the month was 13,880 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that the supply side is loose, the cost side support is strong, and the demand is weak, it is expected that SBR will fluctuate and consolidate in the later period.
