Price trend

According to the price monitoring of SunSirs, stainless steel rose slightly this week. As of January 7, the daily average price of spot 304/2B stainless steel plate 1.0*1219*2438 (tolerance 0.91) was 16,140 RMB/ton, compared with the price of 16,065 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week, the price rose 0.47%,and was up 19.33% year-on-year.

According to the spread analysis tool of SunSirs, the prices of spot stainless steel and upstream spot nickel both rose slightly this week.

Analysis review

In terms of supply and demand: the prices of high-nickel ferronickel and scrap steel on the raw material side were raised, the price of high-carbon ferrochromium was still weak, the overall cost of steel mills had dropped, and profits had gradually recovered.

The crude steel production schedule in January is expected to drop by 13.26%; the marginal improvement in real estate completion, but seasonal demand is in the off-season, centralized procurement is basically over, and social inventory has declined for 5 consecutive weeks.

Market outlook

It is expected that stainless steel will fluctuate slightly in January.
