The price of chloroform rose sharply in December. According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, as of December 31, the price of chloroform in Shandong was 4,275 RMB/ton, an increase of 41.13% from the price of 3,100 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

Analysis review

Since December, some companies of chloroform have been shut down for maintenance. The operating rate of enterprise installations has gradually decreased. The market supply was tight. Although the prices of raw materials and downstream fell, it is still difficult to stop the chloroform market from advancing. The increase of chloroform in December reached 41.13%.

The price of methanol dropped sharply in December, and the cost dragged the chloroform market down. According to SunSirs, as of December 31, the price of methanol was 2,375 RMB/ton, a drop of 14.26% from the price of 2,770 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

According to SunSirs, in December, there were many domestic methane chloride plant that was shut down for maintenance, the overall operating load decreased, and the supply side was tight.

The downstream refrigerants were in the off-season, and the sales situation was average, and the demand for chloroform decreased; the downstream use of fine chemicals was less, and they are basically purchased on demand. Overall, the downstream demand had litlle support for chloroform.

Market outlook

Methane Chloride Data Analyst of SuSirs believes that the cost of chloroform went down. With the increase in construction, it is expected that the chloroform market will weaken slightly in the later period.
