SunSirs: Chloroform Market Rose Slightly This Week (May 31-June 4)

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, the chloroform market rose slightly this week (5.31-6.4). The price of chloroform at the beginning of the week was 4,190 RMB/ton, and the price of chloroform at the weekend was 4,310 RMB/ton, an overall increase of 2.86%.

Analysis review

This week, the overall operating rate of the domestic methane chloride plant increased slightly. According to SunSirs, this week, Jinling Dongying’s plant was operating at high load, Dongyue Chemical’s methane chloride plant was operating at full load, Jinmao Chemical’s methane chloride plant was shutting down, the methane chloride plant of Luxi Chemical started about 90%, Jiangsu Lee & Man’s methane chloride plant started normally after overhaul, Jiangxi Lee & Man started at full capacity, and Meilan Juhua’s operating rate was around 70%.

The price of raw material liquid chlorine was at a high level, and the price of methanol dropped slightly, and the cost side still had support for chloroform. According to SunSirs, as of June 4, the price of methanol was 2,672 RMB/ton, a slight drop of 1.87% from the 2,622 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week; as of June 4, the mainstream ex-factory price of liquid chlorine for tank trucks in Shandong area reported around 2,100 RMB/ton.

At present, the domestic temperature has generally rebounded into the high temperature stage in summer, and the demand for refrigerant has a certain rigid support, which also supports chloroform.

Market outlook

Methane chloride data analysts believe that the cost and demand sides have certain support for chloroform. It is expected that the price of chloroform will remain high and stable next week.
