As of the end of the month, the price of chloroform was 4,190 RMB/ton, which was down 0.24% compared with the price at the beginning of the month. .

Analysis review

At the beginning of the month, the Jinling Chemical and Luxi Chemical’s methane chloride plants started at more than 90%, and the Jiangsu Lee & Man’s methane chloride plants started at full capacity. The spot supply of chloroform was relatively loose. In addition, the downstream refrigerant demand period had passed and the supply and demand support was weak. The price of chloroform fell. In the middle and late of this month, on the one hand, the methane chloride plant of Luxi Chemical Industry declined, and the supply of methane chloride in Jiangsu Lee & Man was shut down for maintenance. On the other hand, the demand for new crown vaccination increased sharply and the demand for refrigeration increased, which pushed the price of chloroform to rise.

The price of raw material liquid chlorine first fell and then rose, and the cost support turned from weak to strong. In May, the price of liquid chlorine showed a "V" shape. It dropped in the middle of the month and rebounded at the end of the month. There was a certain drag and support for the cost. The price of methanol first rose and then fell, and the overall trend was rising, which had certain support for chloroform. According to SunSirs, the mainstream ex-factory price of liquid chlorine for tank trucks in Shandong area dropped from around 1,750 RMB/ton in early May to 1,150 RMB/ton in mid-May, and rose to 2,050 RMB/ton at the end of the month; the price of methanol rose from 2,560 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month to 2,672 RMB/ton at the end of the month, a slight increase of 4.38% overall.

In mid-to-late May, domestic temperatures generally rebounded and entered the summer high temperature stage. There was a certain rigid support for refrigerant demand. In addition, the domestic enthusiasm for new crown vaccination increased sharply in May, the demand for vaccine transportation and refrigeration increased, which had a certain degree of support for chloroform.

Market outlook

Methane chloride data analysts believe that the current cost and demand side have a certain degree of support for chloroform, and the price of chloroform is expected to remain high in the short term.
