SunSirs: Following the Rising Cost End, the Potassium Sulfate Market Rises at a High Level
May 28 2021 14:13:48SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs, the domestic potassium sulfate market is trending positively recently. As of May 27, the average price of domestic potassium sulfate 50 particles was 3,050.00 RMB/ton, a 2.81% increase from the average price at the beginning of the month, and an 11.93% increase over the same period last year.

Analysis review

Potassium sulfate price has been in a relatively high position after the accumulation of positive market in March and April. Since May, the potassium sulfate market has been dominated by a sideways stalemate. Recently, the domestic spot price of potassium sulfate has increased significantly. In terms of operating rate, the domestic potassium sulfate Mannheim plant's installation load is still low, with little change from the previous period, and the overall operating ratio is more than 70%.The ex-factory reference price of Shijiazhuang Hehe Chemical's 52% powdered potassium sulfate is 3,200 RMB/ton. The ex-factory reference price of Shijiazhuang Haofang Chemical's 50% powdered potassium sulfate is reported at 2,950 RMB/ton. The ex-factory reference price of Hebei Gaoqiao Agriculture 52% powdered potassium sulfate is 3,200 RMB/ton. The manufacturer mainly meets the pre-orders and old customers.

Potassium chloride has also risen. Domestic spot and port arrivals have been adjusted up at the same time. There is some tight supply in terms of supply. It is expected that the potassium chloride market may consolidate at a high level.

Going back to potassium sulfate, the current cost support is strengthened, and processing potassium sulfate manufacturers are following the rise of upstreams. However, the demand-side response is general, and there is no increase in potassium sulfate consumption.

Market outlook

The potassium sulfate analyst of SunSirs believes that the price of potassium chloride and potassium nitrate has risen at a high level recently, and the support for the cost of domestic potassium sulfate has increased. Due to production pressure, companies have followed the rise, and businesses have the willingness to increase prices after the rise. At present, the end users' reaction to the increase of potassium sulfate is weak, and the smoothness of trading needs further observation. It is expected that domestic potassium sulfate prices may continue to run sideways in the near future.
