SunSirs: China Glass Price was Stable Last Week, with little Increase (November 6-13)

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the glass price increased last week, with an average price of 23.78 RMB/ m2 at the end of a week ago and 23.87 RMB/ m2 at the end of last week, with a slight increase of 0.38% during the week.

Market Analysis

Last week, glass prices were mainly stable, with little increase. The low price of glass manufacturers in North China rose 3.0 RMB/ m2. Generally speaking, the orders of downstream processing enterprises are better, and the inventory of production enterprises is lower than that of the same period last year. The demand of the terminal market in East China was fair, and the prices of some enterprises rose slightly, up 0.2-0.3 RMB/ m2. The general trend in South China was that manufacturers mainly increase the funds for ex-warehouse and withdrawal, while the prices of some manufacturers adjusted slightly, with an increase of about 0.3 RMB/ m2. The market sentiment did not change much. The overall trend of glass spot market in Southwest and Northwest China was general, and the overall transaction price was mainly stable. Enterprises in Northeast China mainly focused on accelerating the reduction of inventory, and the downstream rush orders were slightly weakened, and the market transaction price did not changed much. The prices of some enterprises increased about 0.5 RMB/ m2.

According to the data of Industry Association, on November 13, 2020, the glass capacity utilization rate was 70.05%, up 0.24% month on month and 0.17% on last year; after excluding excess capacity, the glass capacity utilization rate was 82.95%, up 0.28% month on month and -0.09% year on year. The glass production capacity was 966.72 million heavy containers, 3.3 million heavy containers more than last week, and 26.22 million heavy containers more than last year. On November 13, 2020, the industry's inventory was 30.67 million heavy containers, increased -2.22 million heavy containers compared with last week, and increased -6.49 million heavy containers compared with last year. The number of weekend inventory days was 11.58 days, with an increase of -0.88 days compared with last week, and a year-on-year increase of -2.84 days.

Market Forecast

According to SunSirs, glass prices were mainly stable last week, with slightly higher prices. At present, the inventory of processing enterprises and traders was low, and downstream enterprises were more active in purchasing. The continuation of the northern rush orders, the foreign trade orders of processing enterprises in some areas of the South also increased slightly compared with the month on month. In the short term, China glass still runs smoothly.
