SunSirs: Chinese Live Pig Prices Fluctuate downward in August
September 01 2020 08:46:08SunSirs(Linda)

1. China's live pig price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the domestic and foreign Sanyuan (hybridization among 3 breeds of pigs) live pig prices fluctuated from a high level in August. The average price on August 1 was 37.10 yuan/kg, and the average price of meat on August 31 was 36.72 yuan/kg, a slight drop of 1.02%. .

2. Market Analysis

Entering August, the overall domestic live pig market prices continued to be high, pig prices continued to be high, and the terminal meat market prices were so high that consumers were unacceptable. The terminal meat market demand continued to be sluggish, and the overall sales of slaughterhouses and supermarkets were not ideal. In order to suppress the price of pigs, slaughterhouses have obvious intentions to reduce prices, and the overall domestic pig market prices fluctuated slightly.

In late August, the terminal meat market consumption remained sluggish. At the same time, farmers' willingness to sell for slaughter increased at the end of the month. The supply of live pigs continued to increase, and the overall price of pigs fell slightly under pressure.

In August, domestic corn prices rose and fell, and rose slightly by 0.32% during the month. In August, domestic soybean meal prices fluctuated at a relatively high level and dropped slightly by 0.82% during the month. Breeding and feeding costs continued to fluctuate at a high level, and the cost of piglets was still high. Continued high costs will support the market outlook for live pig prices.

3. Outlook

SunSirs hog product analysts believe that: terminal demand continues to be sluggish, hog production at the end of the month increased slightly, and slaughterhouses have obvious intention to purchase at lower prices. Under the suppression of many negatives, the overall domestic hog market price fluctuated and declined in August. On the whole, breeding costs are still high , The number of live pigs has not fully recovered, the meat market is still in a tightly balanced state in the market outlook, and the room for the price of pigs to fall is limited.
