SunSirs: CPL Prices Fell Due to Weak Demand(August 3-7)
August 11 2020 14:40:16SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, domestic CPL prices have fallen sharply this month. The average ex-factory price of CPL on August 3 was 9,533 RMB/ton, and the average ex-factory price on August 7 was 9,416 RMB/ton, a drop of 1.22%.

Analysis review

The price of CPL fell this week due to poor downstream demand. As of August 7th, Shandong Luxi Chemical's CPL liquid price was 9,000 RMB/ton, and the factory has a factory capacity of 300,000 tons/year. The actual transaction can be discussed. Nanjing Dongfang CPL liquid price was 1,050 RMB/ton, the 400,000 tons/year plant was operating normally, and the CPL plant was operating normally. Baling Hengyi's CPL liquid price was 9,600 RMB/ton, and the 450,000 tons/year plant started up normally and was delivered by acceptance. Baling Petrochemical’s CPL liquid price was 9,600 RMB/ton, and the 300,000 tons/year plant started up normally and was delivered by acceptance.

Boosted by multiple positives, pure benzene prices continued to rise this week. The average price rose by 70 RMB/ton from last week, or 2.08%. This week, Sinopec’s price of pure benzene increased by 100 RMB/ton to 3,450 RMB/ton. The bottom support was strengthened and the market was reluctant to sell at low prices. The market sentiment dropped this week, and spot trading was light. This week, the stocks of pure benzene ports continued to rise, which restrained the market from picking up, but the pressure to raise the price was eased. The demand of downstream slicing plants was weak, and the bargain hunting strategy was the main strategy. The improvement of PA6 transaction volume was limited.

Market outlook

The CPL analyst of SunSirs believes that although the price of raw benzene has risen this week, the performance of downstream demand is still weak, and the CPL market is not optimistic. CPL prices are expected to be weak and stable in the short term.
