SunSirs: The Price of China Wood Pulp is slightly Higher, but is still in a Weak Position
July 27 2020 10:01:58SunSirs(Selena)

According to SunSirs data monitoring, last week wood pulp price slightly rebounded, but the increase was not very large. On July 24, the average price of softwood pulp in Shandong was 4,380 RMB/ ton, which was increased by 30 RMB/ ton or 0.69% (compared with the average price of 4,350 RMB/ ton on July 1). On July 24, the average price of hardwood pulp in Shandong was 3,560 RMB/ ton, which was increased by 30 RMB/ ton or 0.85% (compared with the average price of 3,530 RMB/ ton on July 1).

According to the observation of market changes, the wood pulp spot market operation was relatively stable last week, and the price has been slightly explored, and the small price increase can also be driven by the release of the price increase letter of cultural paper a few days ago. With the increase of softwood pulp price, hardwood pulp also increased slightly.

In addition, the recent paper pulp futures offer stable rise, spot prices also appear to warm up. At present, the epidemic situation in China is relatively stable, the data of starting work in various industries continues to warm up, the terminal demand of enterprises returning to work has obviously recovered, and the downturn of the industry has also improved month on month. At present, the reference quotation range of softwood pulp is: Yinxing 4,350-44,00 RMB/ ton, and the price range of hardwood pulp is 3,500-3,600 RMB/ ton.

In terms of futures, on July 24, the opening price of SP2009 main contract of Shanghai Futures Exchange was 4,474 RMB/ ton, and yesterday's settlement price was 4,468 RMB/ ton, with 95,345 transactions and 126,469 positions.

Wood pulp analysts believe that although wood pulp prices have risen slightly in the near future, but the market demand is still relatively limited. In the case of poor downstream demand, China wood pulp prices are expected to remain weak in the short term.
