SunSirs: MTBE Market Prices Rose in September

According to the data of SunSirs, the market price of MTBE rose sharply in September. At the end of September, the price of MTBE was 6,450 RMB/ton, which was 8.10% higher than the price of 5,966 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

  1. Market Analysis

Products: In September, the domestic gasoline market rose 6.07%, coupled with the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Holidays expectations; the market is bullish, driving up the MTBE market prices.

Industry chain: The weather began cold in September, but with the support of Mid-Autumn Festival and National Holidays, but there was strong demand during Mid-Autumn Festival and National Holidays. Domestic gasoline market demand was good. In mid-September, international crude oil rose sharply and then fell, which led to domestic gasoline market rising first and then falling. Overall product oil market prices rose, and domestic MTBE market prices continued to rise.

Market: In September, the domestic refined oil market experienced two consecutive price increases, with gasoline and diesel prices rising 240 RMB/ton and 230 RMB/ton respectively. The domestic refined oil market is bullish. In September, China entered the peak season for gasoline consumption, and the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Holidays travel demand supported gasoline market consumption. Refinery gasoline orders increased significantly, while domestic MTBE supply remained tight. MTBE market prices continued to rise in September as a whole, and did not fall slightly until the end of September.

MTBE product analyst of SunSirs believes that the international crude oil market has returned to a volatile range, while the U.S. crude oil range has remained between $54 and $57 per barrel. After the National Holidays, there is a demand for replenishment in the gasoline market, which is expected to continue to be an upward trend in mid-early October.
