1  Price Trend

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, in January, the price of domestic SBR was stable, with the price at the beginning of the month at 11,380 RMB/ ton and the price at the end of the month at 11,440 RMB/ ton. The price at the end of the month slightly increased by 0.53% compared with the beginning of the month, which was stable as a whole.

2  Market Trend Analysis

First, the price of raw material butadiene fell slightly in January, which was negative for SBR. According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of butadiene was 8,312 RMB/ ton at the beginning of January and 8,056 RMB/ ton at the end of the month, down 3.08% from the beginning of the month. In January, the price of raw styrene fell slightly, which was unfavorable to SBR Market. According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of styrene in January was 7,250 RMB/ ton at the beginning of the month and 7,233 RMB/ ton at the end of the month, with a slight decline of 0.23% compared with the beginning of the month as a whole.

Second, in January, the output of Yangzi Petrochemical Company and Zhejiang Weitai SBR plant decreased, while that of Lanzhou Petrochemical Company increased slightly, but the overall domestic output still decreased slightly compared with that in December 2019, with little pressure on the supply side, forming a certain support for the price of SBR. The production of other SBR enterprises has not changed much; the parking of Lugang, Yibang and Fuxiang has continued.

Finally, in January, most of the downstream tire factories shut down for holidays, the purchase volume decreased, and the market turnover was light.

3  Future Prospects

SunSirs analysts believe that on one hand, the price of raw material butadiene styrene is weak, and the current international crude oil price is at a low level, so it is difficult for raw materials to form support for SBR market; on the other hand, with the notice of postponing commencement issued by some provincial and municipal enterprises after the festival, the domestic rubber tire industry chain transaction will still be light, and it is expected that the price of SBR will be weak in the later period.
